I have always wanted a McKenzie (even in highschool I knew I wanted to name one of my kids this)
But I know McKenzie is a pretty popular name and maybe a bit over used....so what about Kenzie?
I like it but not sure if it is a life long name?
So, McKenzie or Kenzie?
Re: McKenzie or Kenzie?
don't do it!!
Pretty much this. Also, maybe YOU have loved it since high school, but is your DH on board?

Very trendeigh. I don't think that naming her Kenzie really fixes things because I'll bet at least half of the McKenzies out there go by Kenzie.
If you like the sound of McKenzie, you might like Keziah (nn Kizzie). It's actually a legit name from the Bible that was popular in America in the 18th and 19th centuries, but has been forgotten. It's got your K, your Z, your cute nickname, and sounds trendy but isn't!

McKenzie is a last name to me.
Kenzie is just bad.
Spell it Mackenzie if you're going to use it.
Wise advice.

with a pretty please cherry on top
You are right, Kenzie is not a "lifelong" name. It's way too "cutesy", and will not grow up well.
If you really like this name, I vote for the Mackenzie spelling. "McK" makes it look like a surname.
With that being said, just because you've liked a name since high school does not mean that it's a good idea. In fact, most of the time, it means exactly the opposite. Most teen moms these days end up naming their children Nevaeh or Destinee. And if you like those names, there's nothing I can do for you.
