High-Risk Pregnancy

New with IC

Hi My name is Miranda, almost 20 weeks and becasue of my last pregnancy history of an IC I had a cerclage at 14 weeks. So far everything is going great. I was told today that I can no longer pick up my one year old son becasue of the pressure it puts on my cervix. My husband works out of town and I am home alone at night with my son. I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas of how I might get him bathed, feed, etc, witout picking him up?

Re: New with IC

  • As far as bathing...do you have a walk in shower?  I would do that as long as you are on the same floor as it.  Otherwise maybe you could give him baths in the morning when someone could help you and just clean him up at night with washcloths.  As far as feeding I would put a sheet down on the floor and have picnics with him.  I know it isnt the best way but its an idea.  or you could get some type of booster seat to put on the floor.  I have no ideas about getting him in the crib without lifting him.

  • hi! I'm not on this board anymore, I'm a IC success story after a high risk pregnancy.

I agree with PP about a walk in shower or do sponge baths until someone could come help you lift him! If you can't lift him, I'm sure you guys aren't going out and about so maybe just keep him cleaned off and give thorough baths when your DH is home! For naps, can you make a small pallate on the floor and let him sleep there? Is there anyone you could ask to come help you at all (local family, Church family, a highschool girl after school, neighbors, ect)  I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to come help in any regard possible! Put the word out and see if anyone is willing to help even for just an hour or 2 at a time!! Best wishes on a happy, healthy rest of your pregnancy!!

  • Cute idea with the picnic. I am going to try that this weekend. Thanks :) I have decided to use a space saver highchair for the rest of the time and put it on the floor like you suggested with the booster. I guess he will just have to sleep with me and I have bought some stepping stools so he can get into my bed when DH is out of town. Lets see how long I can do this by myself before I break down and ask my MIL to help.
