for those that are making vanilla extract

can you give me the rundown? what recipe are you using? and I'm guessing it takes awhile to make? I think I want to try it this year. thanks!

If you google homemade vanilla you will find lots too.  I basically ordered vanilla beans from amazon (JD Mushrooms or something like that was the seller), split a bunch of them, and dropped them in a bottle of Kettle One that has been sitting in my cabinet for 2 years.  It sits in my cabinet and smells really good.  I have to get small bottles by christmas.  I will strain it through a cheesecloth to get the bits of bean out, then put in jars and probably drop a fresh bean in each.

How do you let kettel one sit in your cabinet for 2 years? I could drink that stuff like water. Yum.

I used the bethanyactually instructions too - same vodka too.  They have been marinating for 2 weeks.

Where are you guys getting your little bottles at? I wonder if you could buy the little bottles of vodka you get a t a party store and kill two birds with one stone...
