Traveling = bad idea

PSA for those of you considering traveling - don't do it! I'm on my way back to Philly from Providence on the train and I am in agony. So uncomfortable!! I can't wait to get home and take a hot bath and sleep in my bed. On the bright side I got to meet my oldest and dearest friend's new baby and prove to myself I've still got newborn skills - he slept on my chest for an hour!

Re: Traveling = bad idea

  • I hear ya.  My parents are going to Gatlinburg next week and my mom asked if I wanted to come along.  I said NO WAY.  I would be absolutely miserable.

  • I flew to Texas (from California) in November and it wasn't SO bad, but I wasn't as pregnant as I am now... right now I think I'd be MISERABLE!!!! :( I hope you enjoy your hot bath & bed!
  • I can't imagine traveling for a long period of time! I hope you get some good rest when you get home.

    Congratulations on meeting the new baby! :)

    I can't see your sig on when you are due as I'm mobile but isn't there a limit from most airlines on how late you could fly?

    This! 36 weeks is the cut off with most airlines. I flew at 34&35 weeks this past week. I actually had to show the flight attendant my doctors note. Just be careful! (Compression maternity tights, stay hydrated and get up and walk around every hour.)
  • Train ride was 6.5 hours. And just for fun LO did this really painful spin move 20 minutes from our destination. I am so sore but I haven't seen DD1 in two days and she's going to want to play with me. Maybe she'll take a bath with me in our jacuzzi tub?

  • These were how swollen my feet were after driving back to saint Louis from Michigan over Christmas... Never again
  • So...you are saying when I am 36 weeks pregnant it ISN'T the best idea to travel by car 7 hours to Dallas for my sisters wedding?! :) (they moved my due date up 2 weeks so I was only suppose to be 34 weeks!) my Dr. says no, other Drs and nurses I have talked to said as long as you get out and walk every hour for circulation, should be fine!
  • I just took a 4 hr road trip and it was surprisingly bearable. I won't be doing it again. But I tried sleeping on and off which made it much easier.

    Yes! Horrible idea! But your sisters wedding, talk about rock and a hard place!

    @megash113 the baby smelled poopy the whole time! I guess he was just gassy but I felt robbed of an important part of the whole experience, haha!

    Yeah I know. I am just taking it one day at a time and see how I feel. I am matron of honor and will be 2 blocks from Baylor, but still getting kind of nervous about it! Plan on taking it easy and going Thursday/coming back Sunday just so it won't be all shoved together and lots of rest while I am there!
