I started perusing this board this morning when I realized it was here (I'd only been on TTC and the December Moms board until now) and found a lot of the posts to be very informative and comforting. I thought I'd introduce myself before I started just randomly posting!
My name is Jen and my little man, Charlie, was born this past Sunday (Halloween!) at 34 1/2 weeks. I had a very boring pregnancy with no complications or indications that I would have him early (though, sometimes it just happens!) On Sunday (which also happened to be our first wedding anniversary), I got out of bed, walked to the bathroom, and without any other warning, my water broke in one big gush. By the time I got to L&D, I was already having contractions, so they transferred me to a larger hospital with a NICU and by 10:43pm that night, I was a Mommy! Luckily, Charlie popped out at a whopping 6lbs. 1oz., 17 3/4 inches long and did not need any assistance breathing.
Charlie is now six days old and things are looking good. He's been battling some pretty high bilirubin levels, body temperature regulation, and being a very sleepy eater, but from what I'm learning, these are pretty common issues with little ones and we just need to be patient. This past week has been quite an experience for DH and I and again, reading the posts on here have helped me feel a bit more normal. I look forward to reading (and posting) more!
