you've mentioned your preemie has reflux, just wondering if you could share any of your experience in getting your LO to sleep in his bassinet/crib.
we have the bassinet at an angle and we also have the wedge. he seems to only be comfortable being held, but for our sake i think it's time to figure out a way to get him in his crib.
on the reflux - he's on reglan and prilosec and we're going to go see a GI specialist too.
any tips for you or any of you girls would be greatly appreciated.
thx!
Re: lemmen99
We had to have Evan strapped in sling on his crib matress with the mattress up about 45 degree's. I know some people have had good luck with the nap nanny, there was recall, but it sounded like it was from improper use.
I also find this very interesting, and if I knew of it when we were having trouble with Evan I definitely would have bought it.....not just for at home, it would have made traveling with him an actual possibility. https://reviews.fisher-price.com/6194/51903/reviews.htm
Eventually his reflux tamed down enough we could gradually work his matress lower and lower, but it took a LONG time.
hey!
Well, we got into a GI specialist ASAP - so I'm glad you are doing that. We were on (and still on) Prilosec and Eryped (does the same thing as Reglan) as well.
Once we got his reflux controlled, we elevated his mattress with a mattress wedge, and we used a sleep positioner. The sleep positioner allowed him to sleep on his side but he couldn't move/roll. They are considered unsafe now, but his pedi supported it at the time. Andrew kept waking up, covered in puke, screaming, blue, etc. It was just so bad. This helped a lot.
I just looked online and to be honest I don't even see any sleep positioners for sale anymore! I'm glad I kept mine.
I've seen inclined sleeping things they sell for kids with reflux that look good too.
Def talk to your pedi. My biggest piece of advice is to always put him in bed awake to learn to self soothe. We did this from day one. I think self soothing is a really important skill to learn, esp with reflux kids. Andrew was STTN (12 hours) by 3 months, despite all his reflux problems!
thank you both for your advice - i will definitely use it.
we have the fisher price rocker and we actually got two sleep positioners before the recall....hmmmm we might have to give them a try.
