Hi ladies,
Several of you have mentioned upper right quadrant pain here. I had pain under my right rib my whole pregnancy and my doctor ignored it, then I got pre-eclampsia, had low platelets, and emergency c-section under general. A couple of days later I had the worst unbearable pain in my upper right quadrant. I told the nurses and the doctor and everyone ignored it and said it was how I was sitting in the bed. I'm 5 weeks postpartum and still having the pain. Should I be concerned?
Re: Pre-eclampsia and upper right quadrant pain?
Wow.. I am shocked at how they have been brushing you off.. that sounds like hellp to me.. you can get it postpardum( up to 6 weeks after if i remember correctly) as well.. I would call the dr.. just to be safe.
I had the same experence as you when i was pregnant with ds.... pre e, low platelets ( hellp) and an emergency c section under general after a failed induction. i continued to have the pain after delivery when i was in the icu.. they called in a unltrasound for me to check my liver luckly it was indigestion but you never know.
have they checked your blood work again?
you can still have pre-e post pardum. I'm surprised they ignored it with you have what seems like apretty severe case of pre-e if you were put under general for your section.
I'd mention it at your 6 week appt or call your doc now if its really bad.
I would also visit www.preeclampsia.org
They have a LOT of helpful info on there as well as a great message board that is strictly pre-e.
PLEASE contact your OB asap!
I was diagnosed with HELLP after I delivered DD. My blood pressure had been high during my last trimester and everyone assumed it would correct itself after I delivered; instead, it got higher. I also had band pain and low platelets and ended up having a blood platelet transfusion the day after DD was born.
How was your BP/bloodwork after delivery?
