...in case you are curious.
I spoke with the lady who adopted her son through fostering to adopt just a little bit ago. She said that they found their son through Youthville. Because our area is so rural and sparsely populated, Youthville paid for a social worker to go to their house and train them. The classes normally take eight weeks to complete, but they finished in a month.
They said that they would be available to do emergency fostering, which means taking a child for a night or two until a more permanent foster home can be found. They were on that list for a year and weren't called even once for it, but because they were willing to do that, they were bumped to the top of the list. They also said that they were very picky about what they would take, and were up front that they wanted to adopt, rather than just be a foster home. Therefore, Youthville only offered children to them who were available for adoption or would be very soon. She said that they became licensed in early December and got the call about their son the day after Cmas. It took less than a year to finalize his adoption and it cost them zero dollars. He got to keep his medical card, so any medical care that he will need until he is 18 is free to them. He was three years old when they adopted him.She also said that it is possible to adopt infants through them, but it typically takes a year before you are matched with one.
Re: Bubbly--more on the adoption front
Oh wow.
There are so many facets of the process that I know nothing about.
You take my ovaries, I take your yarns.
