Calico critters-does anyone have these?

They are so adorable that I want to buy them for my dd but they seem a little pricey . Does your dc like them/ play with them a lot?

Re: Calico critters-does anyone have these?

  • We don't have them but my kids always play with them at toy stores.  I think I just saw at Wal-Mart that they have a knock-off version.
  • Loading the player...
  • I just bought the smaller cottage playhouse for Grace for Christmas and it comes with one critter...a bunny I think.  I also got her the "baby" hedgehogs because they were super-cute.  Obviously I won't know their quality until Christmas morning but they seem really fun and cute.  I used to have Sylvanian Families when I was her age and I loved them.

Walmart does have a knock-off called Woodsies or something like that.

  • I had something like them when I was little therefore I will demand my child like them and love them like I did, so I plan on getting them for her for Christmas and making her like them:)
  • My DD has had them for a couple years.  She has the house, several "families" and furniture/accessories.  I think when she got them, she was too young.  Even now, she rather play w/ the Loving Family Dollhouse than the CC dollhouse.  She does like them OK, but it's just not appropriate for the Under 5 set.  There are so many tiny pieces...and this is coming from someone who is pro-Playmobil for 3yr olds & buys my girls AG dolls at 1yr old.  I would say they'd be fun for really the 6+ girls that can care for & manipulate the tiny pieces.
  • Thanks everyone, andrewsgal-I do the same thing if I think something is really cute like these-I try to MAKE my kids love them and when they don't it crushes me..lol

Thanks for posting - my parents were going to get my oldest this for Christmas but I think we'll wait a little longer!
