Help! CD's all of a sudden causing bad rash (PIP, privates covered)

I've been CD'ing ds for a couple months now and have never had any major rash issues, but the past week he's been getting one anytime I put one on him it seems.   He wears BG, and Tiny Tush, my wash routine has stayed the same.  Cold rinse, hot wash, cold rinse, cold rinse.  I use All Free & Clear detergent.  They don't seem to be too tight, and its only on his inner legs, and the lower belly by where the diaper fits on his belly.  No rash's on his butt.  Any opinions?

This is a pic of the inside of his leg where the diaper fits around his leg

  • Teething or sweating would be my guesses. Or maybe a rise in activity level (chafing)?

How does this cause a rash?

  • It could be a detergent sensitivity.

Well...teething can cause a rash. However, it would normally be on the LO's butt. Like I said...guesses. I'd be willing to be there have been some pretty weird rashes from it.

This is my thought.  I used RnG for a couple of months with no problems.  Then my LO got red bum all of a sudden.  I thought it was a rash.  I used CA Baby.  It didn't get better.  Our pedi (who also CDs) told us to switch detergents.  We switched to Country Save, and her bum is back to being a cute baby bum!

  • My guess is detergent build up on the dipes, especially the bgs because they are synthetic fibers. I would try stripping them and switch detergents. We used to use all. We switched to rockin green and the build up on our bgs was disgusting!

  • Hm, well coincidentally he is teething, so maybe that is it.  We'll see what happens in a few days.  I put a sposie on him for hte night with some regular diaper cream butt paste stuff and I'm going to see if their is any change.

    Thanks!
