Tuesday I had an MD appointment, was put on the fetal monitors and had an ultrasound. The docs are a little concerned with the babies weight and are talking of inducing me by Monday. I have another appointment on Friday where I will be put back on the monitors and also another ultrasound. I am 38 weeks and my son only weighs 5.14. I am a little nervous. I don't want to be induced so I am trying to think of all the things I can do that will help me start labor. I know it really doesn't matter what I do, he is going to come when he wants too. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to maybe jump start my labor?

I know this may not be popular opinion but if they are wanting to induce only b/c of size you can say no-- obviously I dont know everything going on in your situation but just because a dr says they want to induce you have the right to say what you want done (and at 38wks they cant drop you as a patient just for disagreeing with them) I would personally request that I just keep getting NST's/BPP's and ultrasounds and if there is no medical reason to induce then I wouldnt (again personal opinion). Now if they see something on the u/s or during an NST or something than thats a different story.
Also there is something called a Bishops score which takes into consideration a variety of factors and gives you a number that correlates w/ how successful an induction would be-- you could check that out to ease your mind: https://www.amazingpregnancy.com/pregnancy-articles/173.html
Also the growth scans can be +/- 2lbs which is a HUGE variance-- the farther along you are the less accurate they become. I am slightly confused by your post though, do they think the baby is too small or too large? If they think the baby is too small I would grossly disagree-- I was induced at 37wks b/c of a small baby but my dr's waited until my sons growth had completely peaked before inducing and he was 3lbs 7oz at birth MUCH small than a 5lb'er. If they think the baby is too big? Well I dunno I dont see how they could think that? I did a lot of research before my induction so if you have any other questions about that stuff feel free to PM me! GL! HTH!
