I think enough people know of Alec Baldwin to know how to pronounce it. I really like it a lot better than Alex.

I think of Alec Baldwin. It's a nice name, though it's nms. I think because of the actor people are familiar enough with it to not confuse it with Alex.

I immediately thought Road to Avonlea when I saw Alec.

I think it is a great name.  I like it better than Alex.

I love this A name! My guy doesn't care for it, but I prefer it over Alex. Two great name sakes too - Alec Baldwin and Alec, the character from The Black Stallion.

And yes, I know the King family - Hettie and Alec and Felicity and Felix I can name drop all day

I love allll the Road to Avolea names.  Felix is my #1 choice but it's just too popular here in Quebec

Down with all these anti-Alex people. I do like Alec. What held me back from using it is not wanting him to get called "smart-alec" all the time ... that and I think it might have a bit of a pretentious/stuffy vibe. I remember reading something along those lines in the Baby Name Personality Survey or a book like that. I think it's a good choice though. He'll probably get called Alex occasionally b/c that happens a lot with similar names, but I don't think it would be too big of a problem.

Bonus: since the C and the E can be found in your name, it would be extra awesome if the A and the L from the name, Alec, could be found in his. In fact, it would be divine if his name started with an LA and was say, 8 letters long (Lawrence comes to mind). I might just keel over at the perfection of it.
