drybees question

So, I have a few drybees overnight fleece diapers.  When I've used them they always feel damp on the outside.  I thought with fleece you didn't need a cover?  Am I wrong or is this just compression wicking?  With compression wicking how damp should it feel, and aren't his jammies going to get wet if he's in the diaper overnight?
