Liam hated the swing at first. Then at 3 weeks old, that's the only thing he would sleep in for 4-5 weeks.
He loved the bouncy at first. Didn't want to be held or rocked, just wanted to observe and interact from the bouncy seat, then he didn't care about it for a few weeks, and now again he loves it, sometimes it's the only thing that calms him down.
I would definitely register for everything you think you might want. If you don't get something, maybe go to a friends' and try out theirs and see if your baby likes it before investing in whatever it may be.
I think the swing is a necessity (given that your baby likes the swing) for quick nap times in the living room, etc.Your baby will only use this for 3months tops. After many recommendations from friends, I purchased mine used off of craigslist. It honestly looks brand new. I bought the Little Lamb swing (retails $159.99) for $50. I can probably sell it for $50 when I am finished using it.
I plan on using the infant bouncer/seat for when I need to do laundry or dishes, etc.... something small and easy to move around. Baby bargains recommends the Fisher Price Rainforest Bouncer.
I was wondering the same thing. For people who have both, why don't you just put the baby in the swing, maybe with the movement off, when doing dishes etc.? I have a small apartment and the number of different baby-holding devices recommended seems crazy! (Infant car seat, infant seat/bouncer, swing, Bumbo, high chair, and then of course crib and pack and play...)
I registered for the Graco Swing n Bounce..it has the swing and bouncer in one and takes up less room..my cousin used it with her daughter and loved it. They have it at target for $117 and babies r us for $160, walmart too I think..

The swing does not fit through doorways. Once its in a room, its pretty much stuck there.
From what I have been reading, the bumbo chair is unnecessary and a lot of babies are too big to fit in it.

We also live in an apartment and have only a bouncy seat. I have never felt the need for anything else.
When she's bigger we'll switch out the seat for the PNP. We have one of the space saver high chairs that will just go on one of our dining room chairs.

Some babies only like the swing for naps. Liam will not put up with the swing unless he's tired, it's not somewhere he wants to be just to hang out. You have to remember, these babies all have their own unique personalities and preferences.

Are you psychic?
Every baby is different. Some love the swing and will sleep all night in it, while others hate it. I used ours with DD until she was 12 months old. She hadn't maxed out on the weight, nor would she try to get out. It was a nice place for her to relax. My friend's son would sometimes take a nap in his swing up until he was 10 months old.
DD liked the swing and the bouncer. I ended up buying a second bouncer to keep upstairs.

Everyone that I have spoken to, their LO's out grow the swing within 3-4 months.

"Everyone that I have spoken to, their LO's out grow the swing within 3-4 months."
DS loves his Lamb swing and I doubt he will physically outgrow it anytime soon. He may be more interested in other things in a few months. Even if he only uses it for 4 months, it has been worth the money to make him stop screaming and take naps. For us, it has been a small price to pay for sanity. He is just now liking the Rainforest bouncy seat when he is awake. it is really stimulating to him.
My first son also used his swing for the whole first year (maybe even a bit longer). He was a super active baby and the swing was a good place for him to relax after all his activity. As far as growing out of it, the weight limit is 25 pounds and so he's just now (at nearly 2.5 years) too BIG for it. Obviously I wouldn't put him in it now, but just giving you a frame of reference.
Now our new little guy isn't loving the swing yet, but that could just be because big brother won't keep his hands off of it when the baby is in it. It's more like a carnival ride than a soothing sway!

Honestly, it's all about what your baby likes.
