great...yeast infection...diflucan?

The nurse midwife at my ob/gyn prescribed 1 150 mg pill diflucan for me because after looking she thought a cream might be too irritating, even though they normally do creams.  The pharmacist asked me who prescribed it, because he doesn't see it prescribed much in pg women.  I've never had a yeast infection before...

  • So, are you concerned about taking it? I wouldn't be. Yeast infections are super common during pregnancy (that's one of the only times I get them). I prefer the oral antibiotic over the creams ANY DAY.

  • I was concerned, but did a little literature search and feel like the one dose is really not a problem.  The pharmacist did say they give it to pediatric patients, too.

I saw your post below--hope you got to the dr.  The tested my urine and they did a quick swab inside my vagina to check, and of course examined the skin on the outside.  I'm glad I went, and I'm definitely not usually a dr-goer.

  • I took difulcan just over the weekend...and it worked great!!  Within a few hours I could tell it was getting better and within 24 hours it was totally gone.  It is a miracle drug!!!
