DH and I are going to Egypt for 3 weeks coming up and I am having a bit of a meltdown when it comes to packing. I'm really afraid that I might pack a bunch of clothes that won't fit by the end of the trip.
So, if you are closer to 20 weeks now, did you drastically change sizes in weeks 16-20?
Background...I'm 14 weeks now and still wearing most but not all regular clothes. Some pants I need either a beband or a hair elastic but a lot are also still but ok. Shirts have gotten tighter and shorter so I'm sticking to things that were long and a bit loose to begin with. I haven't gained much weight so far but my middle is drastically thicker and my boobs are bigger.
I know they are just clothes and I don't care if I do change sizes...I just don't want to be stuck on a really busy, travel intensive trip with nothing that fits. Any advice? Thanks!
Re: Changing sizes weeks 16-20
Can you bring comfy dresses that would fit either way? I wear a lot of my pre-pg dresses that are stretchy and these will fit through most of my pregnancy or until I get too cold!
That's a tough range, I know I was needing pants for sure by 16 weeks with both kids. Tops I held out on longer.
Can you pack a lot of dresses? Or other 'forgiving' items.
I know by 20 weeks I was totally into maternity stuff. I popped much earlier than the 3rd tri that's for sure.
I went to Egypt back in March - it was awesome! Have fun!
I was pretty small prepregnancy (105 pounds and 5 '1"). I was able to fit in most of my clothes up until 19 weeks or so, I definitely needed a belly band at 19.5 weeks. My shirts are still fitting pretty well (I am 20 weeks, 2 days) but most of my boob growth was in the first trimester.
I think if you bring a bella band and some dresses you will be safe for that last week. Make sure you drink tons of water, I got dehydrated there and I wasn't pregnant. Also, stay away from any raw veggies and any water that isn't bottled (they will tell you this, but people got sick that didn't follow this). I would also take Immodium or something with (clear with your OB) because they have different brands over there and I am not sure if their brands are ok when you are pregnant.
I popped around 18 weeks but all my pre-pregnancy clothes still fit me now and I am almost 23 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it but would take along a few rubber bands for your pants and bring a skirt or dress that has room for a slight change in your tummy.
Have fun!! I loved Egypt. Just a tip if you haven't been. It is really dusty there and someone told me to bring a pack of handi wipes. They were a god send for all the times you are out and your hands and face get really dusty/dirty.
THIS!!!
I got SOOOOO sick. It only lasted 24-36 hours but it was AWFUL!!!!!!
Thanks Ladies! I really appreciate all the help. I think I'll go buy a pair of khakis in maternity and maybe one other pair of pants just to be safe. I have some stretchy skirts so maybe they would be a good option.
I plan to be really vigilant about the raw food and water. I'm so happy that I'm not feeling sh**ty anymore like I did in 1st Tri.
Well cyprissa - I don't know if this will be a lot of help but, here goes. This is my first pregnancy so it might be different for one who has this as a second, third, or more times.
I'm now at 23 weeks pregnant still not showing with that big belly poked out in front - just a pear shape body which I don't have much use for at the present. I have just gotten bigger boobs, waist, hips. I'm just slightly less that 6' tall. I started out weighting 105# in a 34B-cup, 21-1/2"waist, and 34"hips. Now I'm at 114# in a 36D-cup, 32"waist, (which just looks like an inter-tube around me) 41"hips. I started wearing those sun dresses with - empire waist band at about my 7th or 8th week of pregnancy - been in them ever since. But when around the house after work on week-ends I change into my low-rise boy-shorts and tank top. I use one of those tube-type sports bra's around the house or to sleep in.
I've not really noticed a big change in my growth other than what I mentioned above.
