  • If you scroll down, you will see that many of the posters here are taking it. It is incredibly common and used often.

Yes, it helps. I still throw up, but not to the degree I was. It's kept me from getting dehydrated, which is the most important thing.

It causes wicked constipation, so be sure to stock up on fruit juice, Mirlax and Colace.

  • I took it throughout both of my previous pregnancies, ALL throughout.  It helps, I still vomited most days, but the constant feeling of nausea was almost non exsistent.
  • I took it in LARGE amounts with my previous pregnancies.  I actually had an intravenous 24hr zofran pump and was on a dose that was higher than the home health company was allowed to prescribe under special orders from my dr.  It's safe!!  =)

  • I took Zofran during my first pregnancy and it was my life saver. Given I only took it when I was in dire need of something to get out of bed, but it definatly helped me.

I would take it right before eating if I had been sick all day, and I would still feel a little sick but I wouldnt actually vomit.

  • It's safe. I took it for 8 weeks. If I didn't, I would've been bedridden.

It causes headaches and constipation. Get some stool softeners (docusate sodium is safe), benefiber, fruit juices and tylenol. For me, the side effect were worth the benefits. I am still sick, but weaned myself off it at 15w.

  • I am taking it now ondansetron is just the generic brand of zofran I have the ondansetron and there is a difference. I was sick my last pregnancy vomited day and night 9 months because of afraid to take any meds this time I had to take something because I couldnt function with a 15 month old being that sick this pregnancy. It says I can only take 1 every 8 hrs but I find I only need it to take it every 2 days it last that long. Only side effect I have is constipation but the doctor told me to but miralex to help with that as soon as she recommended the zofran. She said you know they have something for that you know? lol but everyone isnt comfortable taking meds so i understand ur concern
  • I am taking Ondansetron. I try to only take it in the morning or when I'm at the point where I feel as though the nausea is leading to possible vomiting.

This is my first pregnancy, so I read up on it as well. I personally decided it was worth taking so that I could get some sort of nutrition in me for the baby.

If you're really worried about it, I would just use it when you're feeling really, really bad. Hope you feel better soon!

  • I took Zofran with my DD. I think it helped just a little. I was still sick and vomitted almost every day the entire pregnancy. I too was concerned to take it, so I split the pills and took half a pill twice a day. I think if I get sick with this one, I am going to take the full dosage if needed. I do not think I could go through all of that while taking care of DD as well. It was rough!

  • It doesn't make you feel completely better. It made me get past the point of vomiting, and where I could actually eat. I lost weight before I started taking it at 6 weeks. I have all day sickness night was the worse, couldn't sleep ect. My sister-in-law took it and had a healthy baby boy. But yes I agree with everyone else constipation is a side effect, eat your fiber or you will be miserable! Good luck!

  • I'm taking the generic Zofran, and it's definitely helping. Don't get me wrong, I don't feel fabulous, but I've been able to keep 3 meals a day down, so yay to that. I still feel nauseous, but I don't feel that constant urge to puke. I can function on a day to day basis, which is more than I could say 10 days ago. And yes, it's completely safe to take.
