Yes, I have seen this site before. MANY times. Therefore, I know how EASY it would be for a tech to make a mistake. You are not helping your cause.
And you don't consider 90% accuracy at 13 weeks high?
90% says who? Says ONE site online? Give me a break. How many people in this thread told you their techs/OBs wouldn't even LOOK at the sex organs because of how inaccurate their guess would be? 10 - 30* difference in the angle of the organs is something that could be EASILY misinterpreted by anyone.

That site says it's 90% accurate IF THEY GO BY THE ANGLE OF THE GENITALS. I highly doubt a tech who burst into song at your u/s was going by the angle.
OP, I'm a little confused as to why you are defending the accuracy of the guess at an NT scan.
Given the subject line of your post here, and everything.
Most of the posters have answered your question - their techs would not guess, because it was way too early. And your own experience would tend to support that.
I don't really see the controversy here, I'm sorry.
Geez ladies. Way to attack someone just for believeing an u/s tech. Yall are just looking for reasons tp be snarky now.
Have you read through these responses? Last I checked, we were all saying we wouldn't personally believe the gender guesses at a NT scan because it is simply too early. The OP is the one fighting everything.
dude, I had a super high quality fetal echocardiogram at 14 weeks (equivalent to a level III u/s, and 2 weeks later than the NT scan) and the tech wouldn't even look between the legs. Said it was irresponsible that anyone does than early.

That actually was what he was going by...and explaining/showing me as he went along AND was head of the department. Bottom line is he was clearly wrong and hopefully I'll have a happy, healthy boy in a few months.

Well, he was wrong. You were in the 10%. Why you are sitting here and defending the "angle of the dangle" method is beyond me. It didn't work for you.

This! and for both pregnancies my OB and u/s tech would not even guess until a minimum of 18 weeks!

Did you really think that this ultrasound tech had a chance in hell of getting it right?
She has about as much chance as the intelligender.
She was guessing. I could have guessed and had as much scientific backing. It's a nub. A little nub. Both babies have them.
You were a fool for paying any mind to a 12 week gender prediction, and I'm actually a little surprised you would even post on here that you were "shocked" that she was wrong. I'd just take the info and never admit that to anyone that you put any weight in it.

Actually I was told with both of my boys at 12 weeks, and the "guess" was right...I also have 4 other friends that were also told correctly at 12 weeks, so it is possible....

I'm going with no, so let me sum it up for her.
KelMel, a guess is A GUESS. They are right about 50% of the time. Therefore yes, "it is possible" to be right when you GUESS the gender at a NT scan.
Actually I was told with both of my boys at 12 weeks, and the "guess" was right...I also have 4 other friends that were also told correctly at 12 weeks, so it is possible....
It is also possible that I will win the lottery. Those techs were purely lucky

The ground just opened up here, I was wondering what was going on...this explains it.
and FFS, I am even weary of the 20 wk u/s I had, I'm going to ask them to check again at my u/s on Monday. At 12 weeks it's a nubbin.

I get scanned every few weeks, and I still ask "You still see a girl? Anything new sprout up?"
Oh, I have every intention of making sure it's still a girl otherwise he's got a lot of pink clothes! She's growing too fast and I'm terrified that growth involves a wiener.

All 70 of them, I don't have that much time to waste on here...you will soon see after you have a baby...

When I had my 5 year old I had 4 kids in the house and still spent ample time on my mommy board. Nursing and chatting rocks, especially when it's your only adult interaction all day until your man gets home.

Since you have two children already, you shouldn't even have time to log on by your theory. Bye now.
Clearly, something went terribly wrong in your upbringing. You are such a mean-spirited person...and proud!

At least she didn't believe a gender prediction at a 12 week NT scan.

Well, then, it MUST be right!!!! I mean, my mom's friend's daughter's cousin on her father's side had a correct guess at 12 weeks too!
Nobody is saying it is impossible, everyone is saying it's stupid to be shocked/disappointed that is was wrong and even asking a question as obvious as "Has this happened to anyone else?" is ludicrous.
i think it's terribly foolish to tell anyone what the gender could be at 12 weeks. it's so inaccurate! i didn't have an NT scan with this one, but for my DD's there is NO WAY the doctor or tech would tell a woman their thoughts on gender. it's too early to know.

It's not shocking and it's happened to lots of people. What will be shocking for me is that I was told it was a girl at my 18week u/s. At the ultrasounds following that appointment. Up to now my doctor refers to the LO as a her. SO if they pull her out and she has a penis, I will be shocked. Especially because he will be dressing like a girl for the first couple of days till I exchange everything!

Has anyone had the wrong gender predicted at the NT Scan? I was told I was having a girl and at yesterdays visit (17wks 4days) I asked for another U/S to confirm that it was a girl. I was shocked when we saw it was a boy! I did get my hopes up a little since we have a one year old boy and we were really only planning on having only 2 children, but of course I'm happy with a healthy baby .
Has anyone had this happen or heard of it happening?
I think you got 'Punked'. Either that or the u/s tech you had is a complete moron.
Re: Wrong gender predicted at NT Scan :(
And you don't consider 90% accuracy at 13 weeks high?
gender % age group
fetal gender
assigned as female
assigned as male
100 baby scans
Well, it wasn't 90% accurate for you.

Ah, the "You will see..." the comments on upbringing, the assumptions that people must be horrible to live with IRL based on one post.
I see that and raise you a "KARMA WILL GET YOU!" and a reference to stairs.

I 'bumped' more on maternity leave than any other time. BFing baby = one handed typing time for mommy = awesome. Get off your highhorse.
