Drano=gender test!?

I was listening to the radio this morning and they were having people call in about pregnancy wives tales about gender.

Anyone ever heard of the Drano Crystals method? Take 2 or 3 ounces of your urine and mix it with 2 tablespoons of Drano Crystal...if it is brown it is a boy...if the color doesn't change it is a girl! I thought it was pretty interesting...had never heard of that before.

So crazy! I wanna be surprised but for those who wanna know...maybe try this before finding out from the doc to see if it works

I've heard this before and seen it discussed on boards here before. I think the general consensus has always been it sounds dangerous lol. Drano is supposed to be used in a well ventilated area and it just doesn't sound like a good idea for a pregnant woman to go mixing others things with it and trying to decide if it changes colors.

Yeah, that sounds like it could kick up some nasty fumes. And it sounds completely ridiculous. Better off flipping a coin. 50% chance you'll be right!

I have heard this before, but personally, I don't believe drano will tell me the sex of my child.

Sounds scary!!!

My niece (of all people, she's 16!!!) told me about this test that Walgreens carries that supposed to predict gender. Wonder if it works? It's called "Intelligender".
Sounds a bit out there. But then, I'm quite skeptical!

I will just stick to the Chinese gender charts lol They have been around for hundreads of years and so far both of my kids have been right and saying that this one is a girl. I guess only time will tell :0)

mixing drano with urine seems pretty risky and don't believe pregnant woman should attempt such things. I would be afraid of exposure and birth defects just by the fumes.

Here's the skinny on it from snopes.com. It's not true, but I wanted to investigate because there may be changes in the amount of estrogen vs. testosterone in the woman's urine, depending on the gender of the child she is carrying. I thought maybe the hormones (or something else) was what caused the difference in appearance in the Drano. Oh well, it was fun to look up!

did it with DS along with my friend who had a DD.  we both got green.  it makes a lot of mess too.

There is a blood test coming to a doctor near you that has been in the testing stages since I was pregnant with #1 that can tell gender at 5 weeks. It is a blood test and from what I last read, had a very high accuracy rate. 

 

Hopefully it will come soon so the OWT's will just go. away.
