5 week old constipated - Karo syrup?

Any remedies?  He gets breast milk and formula.   I just called my dr and he said to put dark Karo syrup in the next bottle.  Has anyone used that before?

I heard of using that and I also heard of using prune juice

I have heard that. Our Pedi recommended 1/2 oz of prune juice twice a day- did the trick!

I did the Caro syrup and it really didn't work. It's too early for their system to process the fruit juices. I got baby glycerin suppositories and the Dr said to use them every other day when he is miserable. We are using Similac Advanced and breast milk. I tried the Sensitive in the beginning and will be trying the Soy in another week if the gas doesn't get better. But we went to once a day BMs once we switched from the Sensitive to the Advanced which sounds crazy.

We've used dark Karo since he was a few weeks old. We still use it, but have cut back on the amount we use. It works for us.

We did this - I just made sure we didn't use one that was generic so there was less sugars. Tried to get one that was more 100% prune juice.

My pedi recommended to change formulas first. If that didn't help, 1 oz pear juice a day in the bottle. I use Gerber brand pear juice. Karo syrup carries the risk of botulism. https://www.mayoclinic.com/health/infant-constipation/AN01089

I used Karo syrup with my first when he was constipaqted and it seemed to work, and he was good after that.

i have to use karo syrup for my r month old daughter. she has been on it since 2 months old. she is on soy milk and it constipates her. karo syrup worked wonders for me. u only want to give them 2 tspns throughout the day. bc if u give too much it comes out like water. the dark syrup works best.

We used a 1/2 teaspoon of the dark karo syrup in his formula and it worked.  Took a few hours to kick in.  My LO is also BF and FF.
