If your school has a garden

Can you tell me about the fence it has?

We're working on a habitat garden in the playground.  We need some kind of fence but we're having a hard time coming up with something that is sturdy, pretty, not too climbable, high enough that it won't trip kids, not too permanent, and affordable.

Any ideas?

Re: If your school has a garden

  • My DS's school has a garden, but it's in an interior courtyard of the school.  The only access to it is through doors that open from the school.

So you're not looking for something that will keep kids out entirely -- just something that will be a visual barrier to prevent people from accidentally stomping through it?

  • Yup, basically a visual barrier and something that will keep the maintence guy from mowing it down!  :)

  • What about knee-high white picket fence?  You can probably get it in some kind of composite material that withstands extremes of weather pretty well.  Home Depot might have it in rolls (if the garden has curved edges) or straight pieces, if you're looking to border a more regular shape.
