We've been having a lot of trouble trying to come up with a boy name. When I jokingly mentioned Tiberius James (Star Trek reference) to DH, he of course loved it. If we did end up going with this, we'd call him Ty or TJ.
James Tiberius is out in my mind because FIL's name is James--I think more than one James in a family would get confusing. Plus, SIL is considering using the name James anyway.
So...Tiberius...thoughts?
Re: Tiberius
noo.
i like James though. & you mentioned calling him Ty if you named him Tiberious & i think that is adorable. name your baby Tyler & you can shorten it the same.
Look, I love Star Trek quite a bit, but no... don't do it. He will hate it and he will be made fun of forever. Use Tiberius as a middle name if you really want to use it; that way you still get the reference in there that you want, but he won't have to live with Tiberius as his primary name for the rest of his life.
I watched Star Trek and I didn't pick up on the reference.
Oddly, I like the name. And I like the NN of "ty".
I'm not usually in the minority on this board, but today I am!

I love it...I tried to get DH to use Tiberius - not for Star Trek because 1. gag, and 2. I had no idea it was Cpt. Kirk's middle name. I've liked it since Latin class in high school. Alas, DH said no. Which I thought was funny because he likes Star Trek.

I have to say that when I saw the title of this post i though it was a joke.
Please don't do that to your kid.
This. But I also like Latin names. I wouldn't be afraid to name my kid Augustus. Yeah I said it.
Love the nn Ty
not a huge fan of initial names though (TJ)
I immediately thought Star Trek/Capt. Kirk and will go against the grain and say "sure, go ahead and use it".
I actually like it.
Just mentioned it to DH and he's said "hey, that's cool". DH is a huge fan of series.
We have friends who named their son Maximillian Q. - yes, just Q. as the middle name. The Q is after the Star Trek character. So you can see that Tiberius James would work our in nerdy circle of friends.
I really thought this was a joke, but since it's not I will say IMO i think it's terrible.
Not so good for a first name, awesome/bad @$$ middle name.
I'd like to say though that I'd take a FN Tiberious over an Aiden/Brayden/Caden any day. And it's a real, Latin name.
