flu shot made me feel like crap

I get one every year so I expected my arm to be sore and to not feel great that day and the next day.  However, I got it 2 days ago and I just feel like a zombie.  Exhausted, achy, and my nose is full of crap (just finished antibiotics for a sinus infection last week and was finally feeling better).  Wondering if it has anything to do with the H1N1 shot being mixed with the regular flu shot.  or maybe it is just because I am pg.  I'm so ready to feel "normal" again.  I have so much to do.  I don't have time to feel bad.

Re: flu shot made me feel like crap

  • The flu shot is not a live virus so it can't make you sick so its coincidental that you don't feel good after having the shot.  My guess is that pregnancy and the existing sinus infection you had are more to blame.

This. Pregnant women do not get the live virus. It is likely coincidence and just bad timing. Sorry you feel bad!

I just wanted to say that the only flu vaccine that is a live virus is the flu mist, so regardless of her being pregnant or not, the flu SHOT isn't live. Wink

I agree with the others that it's coincidence that you feel sick again.

  • It's more likely to be the pregnancy/sinus thing or something you picked up in the office when you were getting the shot.

    Feel better!

  • you just got added to the list of people who mysteriously feel sick right after getting their flu vaccine.  Live virus or not, I am convinced there is a correlation.

    Hope you feel better soon!

  • That stinks!  I'm so sorry!  I get sick like that for several days following *any* shot I get, so I absolutely believe it's my body's response to vaccines.  It's not fun at all :(

  • I know scientifically it's not a live virus in the shot, yadda yadda, but both my DH and I feel yucky for a couple days after the flu shot each year.  So weird!  My kids don't seem phased by it.
  • Just a coincidence...pregnancy gets you tired and feeling like crap often:)
  • I felt like crap for 3-4 days after I got my shot.  I am debating on whether or not to get one again next year.  It wasn't fun.
