XP: Warning from Amazon re: Rock N Play sleeper??

I ordered my Fisher Price Rock N Play sleeper a few weeks ago from Amazon. it has since disappeared from the Amazon site, though it's available on other web sites (BRU, Wal Mart, etc). Today I got a product safety warning email from Amazon saying that the CPSC and FDA have issued a joint statement warning against sleep positioners, and "my recent order indicates I ordered such a product." However, the warning itself shows ACTUAL sleep positioners - not this particular product.

Did anyone else receive this email? I have no idea whether to return it, or what, since other stores are still selling it, I don't consider it a sleep positioner and it isn't recalled according to the Fisher Price site. Only thing I can think is because it lets the baby sleep on a slight angle, they are covering all bases.

  • that's weird, I would never consider it a sleep positioner. We have had ours for a couple months now and I sent in the product registration and have not gotten any notice? I still plan to use it until I see something specific for the RnP.

  • I would call Fisher Price about it and ask them.  Just let them know you bought it from Amazon they have since removed it from their site and sent you an email saying that it may not be safe to use because of the recall on sleep positioners and ask them if it is still safe to use.
  • Here is what I found out in a follow up from Amazon:

Since we received this information {about the safety warning}, we have removed this item from our website and are investigating this with our suppliers. If we find that the product isn't affected, it will be listed again. Unfortunately, I'm unable to determine whether the item you ordered has been affected. However, you may contact the manufacturer directly to check this. They will also be able to issue a refund if this is true.

    - So I am assuming they are investigating whether they think this is remotely close to a sleep positioner...hmph. I appreciate their diligence, but considering it is listed on other sites for sale...it's confusing.
  • Weird, I ordered mine from Amazon & got nothing.

This is good advice.  Sounds like amazon is being overly cautious (can't bring myself to fault them for that) because this is totally not like the sleep positioners that have been recalled.

  • I did call Fisher Price. The woman said I was actually the second person to call that day about this particular email, and that FP has no plans to recall or pull this product. She actually said she had no idea why Amazon would send that email since the RnP is classified as a bassinet more than anything (in terms of its safety standards and construction). I understand why Amazon is being cautious, but dang, this put me in a tizzy.
  • I have it on my BRU registry and didn't get any message about a recall (unlike the FP high chair I have on there).  I definitely wouldn't consider it a sleep positioner.

  • I bet it's just mis-labeled on the Amazon website.  If it were being recalled all the stores wouldn't have it for sale.  And everyone on 0-3 would be freaking out!!
