I have my Gestational Diabetes test tomorrow and I'm super nervous. I'm afraid it's going to come back positive. I feel perfectly fine, but anything can happen. I know as long as I follow the diet the baby will be fine, but I feel like with so much going on bet working full time and getting ready for our little boy, and just everyday life, trying to stick to this diet will be very stressful.
I guess there's nothing i can do about it now so I should just relax and see what happens...easier said than done.

I have taken the 1 hour test 3 times, and have failed it every time. But I have passed the 3 hour twice, and the 2 hour once. The 1 hour isn't bad, and even if you do fail it, unless you fail it horribly, there is still hope.
Since I have never passed the 1 hour, I get to go straight to the 2 hour (my new OB does a 2hr vs. the 3 hr) in 3 weeks. Yay me.
I failed the 1 hour horribly (by 50 points) and still passed the 3 hour. So still hope even then.
Thanks girls I appreciate the positivity! I'll let you know how I do as soon as I find out!
I got diagnosed with GD last week, and so far following the diet is not all that difficult. I also lead a busy lifestyle. I also got used to the frequent finger pricks pretty quickly.
GD may suck, but it's not the end of the world.
Edit: Nevermind, I just reread your post and you are skipping the 1 hour and just doing the 3 hour. That makes sense to me. Sorry
I would probably reconsider this. Its not just a matter of no more ice cream. you have to check your blood sugar multiple times per day and the diet is fairly restrictive and low carb. The biggest reason why I wouldn't just accept a diagnosis of GD, is it automatically classifies your pregnancy as high risk. So if you are planning on delivering with a midwife at home or a birthing center, you probably wouldn't be able to anymore. They may impose more restrictive monitoring on you at the hospital due to high risk status and may require that your baby be monitored in NICU for a period of time after the birth. GD is totally manageable and not the end of the world, but there are some implications you should make sure you are comfortable with before just accepting the diagnosis without the test.
This.
My OB wouldn't let me go past my due date with my DD b/c of GD (it's their standard policy with GD patients) so I had to get induced and ended up having a very difficult delivery. You'll have more options if you don't have GD.
Izz, NP- it read weird
Amy and Jay- If I have GD, I have it, there's nothing I can do about it. Sure it makes things more complicated but that's the way it goes.
