Just broke down

I have been doing so good and haven't cried once and something just hit me tonight and when we got in the NICU room tonight and saw my sweet girls I just broke down. They are doing great and looking wonderful it just broke my heart. Man NICU is fabulous and takes awesome care of our children but it is soo hard.

Prayers please.

  • I couldn't agree with you more.  At first I didn't even want to go see my boys in the NICU but at the urging (more like pushing) of my DH I went and broke down hysterically.  Poor guy, I think I scared him with how hard it was for me.  But the more times I went the better it got.  I rpomise it will be for you too. They are getting THE best care possible and the nurses & doctors there are simply amazing.  Many hugs and prayers coming your way.

  • You guys are going great!  It's your hormones.....gets some rest.  Take this time to heal and relax.  You're going to need it when you get them home.  You all are going to be okay.....You did an amazing job baking them.... :  )

  • The hormones are really hard right now, and not having the babies home with you makes it even harder.   {{hugs}}  I remember :)

Do try to rest as much as you can.  Also get the nicu nurses to start helping you to participate in babies' care as soon as they are ready.  When you can do skin-to-skin with them it will just overfill your heart with love.

Exactly.  I shed MANY tears in that NICU room.  It gets better when you can do more with your babies.  I remember the day I could get them out of their box on my own.  It was huge.

  • I started crying every. single. time. that I visited my son - which was twice a day for two weeks. The doctors would give me an update = I'd cry. He didn't eat as much at his last feeding = I'd cry. He seemed restless in his isolette = I bawled.

The NICU is hard! Your hormones are all over the place, you're exhausted, and physically you need a lot of rest and time to heal, which is the last thing you want to do while your babies are in the hospital.

It gets better. Hang in there! Soon you'll be home with your babies, and able to look back on this time as a big blur. Hugs :)
