I'm sure that people have been eating raw fish while pregnant for thousands of years before research said it was "bad" I think you should keep in mind the mercury consumption and not eat large fish, and then it might be ok. Others would probably say no
I (reluctantly) stayed away from ceviche when it was offered to me a couple weeks ago since it is technically raw fish. I'm not sure the citric acid is strong enough to kill potential bacteria.
I totally ate ceviche the other night, not realizing it was ceviche. I thought it was some kind of salsa with shrimp in it. (a ceviche I saw before had a couple different types of fish in it and looked different) I heard someone ask her for her ceviche recipe and got a little panicked and then I saw that the shrimp was "cooked" in lime juice. Eeek. But I only had a couple pieces and didn't get sick.
It's funny, I love ceviche and was kinda bummed that I couldn't partake during an office party today, but a co-worker (who doesn't know I'm pregnant) just brought me a plate and the smell totally turned my stomach. Suddenly I don't feel like I'm missing out anymore.
