My Lo usually starts the night in his room in his bouncer in the crib, then comes into our bed. He was sleeping from 630 ish to midnight ish, but for the past few weeks (4 month wakefuls I assumed) he has been waking up every 2 hours about and is usually in our bed because after he wakes up the second time wont go back to sleep in his bouncer. Anyway, he is outgrowing the bouncer and today we are trying out the crib, it has been rough. He is asleep then I put him in the crib on his back and he instantly wakes up. For bed tonight I put him on his stomach and he has been asleep since 630 ( i know that isnt that long, but it is given our last few weeks) . Are we coming out on the other end of the wakefuls? Does he love his crib/sleeping on his stomach? I have been really nervous about having him on his stomach and have been checking in on him, he can roll both ways so it is ok to have him on his stomach right?? I am going to try to keep putting him on his back, but if he rolls, he rolls right?? I pray this keeps up!! YAY!!

Re: Knock on wood, in crib first time, longest stretch in weeks.
I know all about the 4 month wakeful! Last night I 'hugged it out' with DD, she cried a lot but when she finally fell asleep in her crib without my nipple in her mouth she slept for 3 1/2 hours as her first stretch, 2 hours more than she usually does (or for the last 3 weeks).
I wanted to assure you that belly sleeping is safe: firstly your LO is out of the most common SIDS age, 1-3 months. Second, if he can roll over he probably have such good head control that he can easily lift it up if he is uncomfortable. Finally, you check on him often to make sure he is not lying with his face turned too much into the mattress. I actually let my DD sleep on her belly a couple of times already at 2 1/2 months, but only under these conditions (I was awake and checked on her frequently).
