Sleeping positions.

I know it might be a dumb question, but this is my first pregnancy. Is it okay to keep sleeping on my stomach for the time being? What about my back? I know as you get further along laying on your stomach is impossible, and laying on your back in bad, but for now is whatever I find comfortable okay?

Re: Sleeping positions.

  • i lay however i want. once you get further along you want to try avoid back laying and they say laying on ur left is best but i could never stay that way when sleeping!

  • You are fine to sleep in any position you find comfortable.

  • I asked my Dr the same question today. She said you don't have to worry about it until like 20-24weeks and then its just because of how the baby lays on your organs and blood supply. Even then, if you wake up on your back its no big deal.

  • You'll know when it's a bad idea. It will feel bad.
  • I've read that later on it's bad to sleep on your back, but for now it's fine.  What I read did suggest starting to sleep only on your sides now so that you're used to it when you need to though.  And I did read that it's best to favor your left side, but that the right is ok too.

  • Sleep on your stomach if you want as long as it's comfortable it shouldn't be hurting baby. Right now LO is still inside your pelvic bone area and so it shouldn't be a problem. I imagine it would become more uncomfortable when baby starts to grow and comes out but I have seen several women on here that have said they just arrange the pillows to make a hole for their belly and still sleep on their stomachs.

Back sleeping isn't an issue until later on. I always fall asleep on my side and wake up on my back, it's not a problem except that it's uncomfortable for me because it makes me feel like I have to pee haha.

This. Your body lets you know. Besides, sleep how it is more comfortable for you so you can actually get some good sleep now.
