Triplet Stroller Advice

I'm expecting triplets in February and am wondering if anyone has any advice on what stroller to get. I've seen the Peg Perego that have the infant seat you can snap on and off, but i'm wondering if that's really my only option right now. Or should i go with a single and a double stroller.

Re: Triplet Stroller Advice

  • We are doing a single and a double for a couple reasons...

    1. The hugeness of a triplet stroller

    2. The cost

    3. I don't want the attention of having them all in one stroller

  • If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten a triple stroller when they were infants.  We decided to go the single and a double route and although we survived, there were many, many times that I wish we had a triple.

We did end up purchasing a triple Baby Jogger from craigslist when the girls were over a year old.  That is used just outside though.

With 2 strollers you always need 2 adults.  Are there going to be situations when you will need to go somewhere alone with them?  You can put one in a sling or bjorn for awhile but once they get bigger, you lose that option.  Just stuff to think about.

    Ditto this.

Maybe I'll change my mind when they're here, but I can't fathom taking them out by myself. If I have to, I'll wear one, but I can only see NEEDING to if I'm taking them to a doctor's appt. In that case, my MIL is the office manager at the practice, and she'll meet me at the car to help.

  • I was completely sold on the PP Triplette until just recently, when I saw another triplet mama on here who got the Valco trimode with toddler seat for her triplets who were a little older.  Given the sheer size of the Triplette, and the cost (even used), we've decided to get a DSNG and then I'll wear one of the babies if I'm out with the triplets by myself.  The main advantage to the Triplette is the ability to snap in PP carseats when they are infants, but we decided to deal with the inconvenience of taking one out of the carseat (to wear or place in a single stroller if DH is with me) for about a year and then invest in the Valco (which has a double side by side footprint and gets rave reviews from other MoMs on this board) for the 'long haul'.

Another deciding factor for us ended up being the PP infant seats (the only compatible snap-ins with the PP Triplette).  Not only are they way more expensive, but they are wider than our car can accomodate. (We're going with the Chicco Keyfit or the Baby Trend Flex Loc, which are both the most narrow infant seats made.)  But, we're also having to fit 3 across (2 convertables and an infant) in the 3rd row of a Suburban and two infant seats on the 2nd row bench.

(Wow  - sorry, didn't realize this got so long!)  GL!  Smile
