Last night was my first night on insulin. I only need to take 5 mL before bed. My fasting numbers over the weekend were 106, 113 and 102 yesterday. This morning it was 118. I had the same breakfast this morning and got 131 afterwards while yesterday it was 121. My OB said it's ok if a few numbers are over 120 every once in a while and even if I eat the same things I may get different numbers. The only reason why I'm concerned is my numbers last night after dinner were 139. But they didn't tell me anything about the fasting numbers, probably because I will see them again next week and they'll review them then. Should I be concerned about 3 high numbers in a row? What about the high fasting number (highest so far) inspite of insulin.
ETA: 5 units, not mL.
Re: GD moms- insulin question
Just to clarify, I hope you mean 5 units, not 5 mL.
Yes! Sorry, didn't quite now what to call it. They just showed me where on the syringe to stop at, I didn't pay attention to the unit of measure they said it was. But yes, 5 mL would be much more than the 5 units in the syringe I was prescribed.
I wasn't told that, but I had exactly that as a snack. I've been having a snack in the evening and wasn't told not to. Does it make a difference if I eat it before or after the insulin?
