SO: What will you do with your rings when they don't fit?

So what does everyone plan to do with their wedding rings if/when they can't wear them anymore due to weight gain or swelling?  Or what have you done in the past?  Will you put them away somewhere safe?  Wear them on a necklace (which scares me because I've had chains break before while wearing them)?  Any other ideas?

  • I will try the necklace thing, I am terrified I will put them somewhere and lose them...my band was my great grandmothers and I will be murdered if I lose it.

  • mine haven't fit for weeks now. they are in a safe place and i went and bought a cheap (really cheap) set to wear until my pretty ones fit again. :( i would be terrified to put it on a chain around my neck. I have lost several necklaces and that would be WAY to expensive to lose.

  • i'm going to put them on a chain

  • I have days where mine fit and days where they are uncomfortable so on uncomfortable days I would put them on my necklace. Well my very needy dog likes to be held and got his "finger" caught in my ring and almost ripped it off my neck, plus the clasps on most necklaces aren't very strong so mine are sitting on my nightstand now. I'm thinking of going through my jewelry box to see what I have that's pretty and says I'm married leave me alone.

  • With both of my last pregnancies, my rings fit just fine all the way to the end. But, if this pregnancy is different and I balloon up, I have a nice necklace I can put them on. Or, I'd put them in my bathroom drawer and buy a cheapy CZ to replace it so I didn't feel nekkid.

  • They're setting on top of my dresser. I've already taken them off as they were a bit snug and I didn't want them getting stuck.

  • Mine already don't fit.  I bought a nice heavy silver chain with a good clasp and have been wearing them on that for a couple weeks now.  It works for me and I have a CZ ring I wear on my ring finger.

  • Mine were tight pre-pregnancy as I have gained a little bit of weight since the wedding.  I put them in my jewerly box and wear a ring DH gave me a couple of years ago that is a size bigger in place of my wedding rings
  • My wedding ring is DH's nightstand organizer. My e-ring still fits with room to spare (it has always been a smidge big). It that stops fitting, I will get a cheap fake.
  • I was able to wear them the whole time with my 1st pg.  I *hope* it will be the same this time.  If it doesn't work out that way I will probably just put them away for safe keeping.

  • I had gotten mine resized my last pregnancy, then resized back when I needed to. :) The jewelry store my rings came from will do it for free so I dont mind resizing every couple months if needed! ;)

  • Mine have been sitting in the medicine cabinet, that's where they sat when I couldn't wear them with #1 too.
  • I am still wearing mine but when i can't, i 'll put mine in my jewelry box and wear DHs first ring we got married with. He has a second.

  • mine have not fit the last week.  so i put it back in the box and have been wearing a cute ring my DH got me when we were in Destin, FL back in May.  we went on a dolphin tour and he got me a ring with 3 dolphins on it,  i think of the dolphins being me, DH, and baby.  it use to be loose, but now it fits fine

  • Mine are starting to get a little tight.  I am going to take them off soon and put them in my jewelry box and just buy a cheapo CZ set to wear so I don't feel naked.  I've lost too many necklaces to try the other.
  • My rings still fit fine. If it gets to the point where I can't wear them then I will keep them in my jewelry box and buy a new ring to wear temporarily.

  • not wear them. and put them in my jewelry box
  • I plan to put them on a chain and wear them around my neck. I did it with my other babies. It seemed to work great and I was super happy. Just really sad that when you have a c-section they don't let you have any jewelry touching your skin.

Same here and I just put on a super cheap and flexable one.

  • With DD I just put them in our safe and bought a fake ring from Kohls. I will do the same again. I am not going to take the chance of the necklace breaking and losing my rings.

  • I just left them in my jewelry box...  when I was PG with DS, DH bought me a ring with what was supposed to be his birthstone in a slightly larger size so I could wear that instead.  Then the little bugger came 3 weeks early and in July instead of August Stick out tongue  But I still love the ring and I think it's a sweet story!

  • So far, my engagement ring doesn't fit anymore so I stick with the wedding band. I just keep my engagement ring somewhere safe at home.
