Baby Names

Now, what about these girl names

Last name looks like S....R

Gwyneth (nns could be Gwyn or Winnie)
Madolynn (nns could be Madi or Lynn)

In keeping with wanting to honor family through a MN our options are:

Margaret, Mary Ann (could leave off Ann since that'd be a mouthful), Beverly and Eleanore after our grandmothers

Vicki and Anne after our mothers.

Sara after SIL.  I don't have a sister

I also like the idea of using August (my grandfathers name who's passed away) as a middle name for a girl, and honestly, I think it sounds awesome with Gwyneth but I can't give my LO initials like GAS.

Re: Now, what about these girl names

  • I like Gwyneth Margaret.

Madolynn (and every other permutation and spelling of Madison/Madeline) is WAY overdone.

I like August, and it works as a MN for a girl, but I prefer it as a FN or MN for a boy.

  • I LOVE Gwyneth!

As far as middle names, I would just use the one of the family member you would most like to honor.

  • I really like Gwyneth.  I really don't like the spelling Madolynn.  Madeline or Madelyn would be better.

Gwyneth Eleanore or Gwyneth Victoria would be my favorites.  I like Gwyneth Anne as well, but the initials would be GAS again.

    Gwyneth - love!
Madolynn - don't like this spelling at all. I saw Madonna first and then Mandolin...the O is phonetic, but not correct. Madeleine or Madeline.
    Margaret - lovely
Mary Ann - I really like Mary. Ann is nice, but I'm a huge Green Gables fan, so I like Anne with an E. Mary Ann is a bit too Gilligan's Island, but otherwise I like it.
    Beverly - nice, but nms
Eleanore - lovely, but I prefer the Eleanor spelling.
Vicki - nms. Was this her given name? If she was Victoria, I would say go for it.
    Anne - love it!
    Sara - s'okay
August - my number one boy name, so I'm hesitant to recommend it, but if you're going to use it for a middle in honor of your grandfather, I say go for it. On the other hand this could be an issue if you have a boy and love this name. Some possible combos...

    Gwyneth Anne
    Mary Victoria
    Victoria Anne
    Madeline Eleanore
    Eleanore Gwyneth
    Gwyneth Eleanore
    Gwyneth August

I think it may actually be spelled Eleanor - I've never been able to spell this name for some reason.  Obviously if we ever used it we'd get it right and I'd train myself to be able to spell it!

As for my mom's name.  Sadly, yes- Vicki is her given name.  Even more unfortunate - her MN is Sue.  Vicki Sue - yuck!

  • The spelling we like of Madolynn is still in the air.  I do know that I would like it to end in LYNN if we ever use it.  I know of too many people who have seen it ending in an "e" pronounce it like the word Line.  While I think that's beautiful, I like the lynn sound.

I do agree with the Madonna initial thought.  Yikes.  Maybe Madelynn would be better.

  • Beverly does not sound good after Gwyneth or Madolynn.

    I like these combos:

    Beverly Margaret

    Mary August

    Eleanore Margaret

    Gwyneth Mary Ann

Madeline can pronounced Mad eh lin (Behind the name shows it as a pronunciation guide, and I know a few Madeline's go by the LIN pronunciation).

But if you're absolutely against it, please consider Madelyn. When people add the LYNN suffix to a name, 99% of the time, the secon N gets dropped. Think Evelyn.
