Was anyone else shocked to find out that they were pregnant?
I'm supposed to be infertile from chemo treatments, I was on the pill to balance my hormones, and he always wore a condom! WTH? We were both excited but it's just too weird!
And we didn't find out I was pregnant until I was 15 weeks pregnant!
Re: Weird conception stories?
My mom had that happen to her, she was 16 weeks pregnant with my youngest brother and had no symptoms because she was nursing (irish twins hehe) my kid brothers are 11mo appart
I told DH we would try for two years (after three on our own with PCOS) with clomid and we got pregnant on our 24th cycle
on New Years eve with this LO!
Wow, that baby of yours is really meant to be!
I was certain we were done last December after talking with DH (so much so that I gave everything away). The next month, DH didn't use a condom once (no idea why -- I never asked) and I got pregnant. I felt pretty proud of my reproductive system being 36 with one tube and all
Because we are young, healthy, and just a little bit cocky, we assumed that as soon as we started trying, we'd get pregnant. I went off the pill in May so we could get ready to start trying in September (we still used condoms). We wanted to have the baby at the end of June so I wouldn't be pregnant over the summer.
Well, my period didn't come back that month.....or the next.....or the next. Saw my doctor in October and again in January but there was nothing to be done. Was pretty disappointed, because the "plan" was for me to be 4-5 months along then. He did suggest at the first appointment that I take a pregnancy test every 6-8 weeks, just to make sure.
On Valentine's Day, DH said "We totally just made a baby." On March 4, I randomly decided to take a test and got a faint positive, but then a negative. That night, someone gave me a fortune cookie with the words "Be prepared to receive something special" (which is still in my wallet).
Took another test two days later and got my BFP! And sure enough, estimated conception date: Valentine's Day! Good call, hubby! Best part of the story (besides being pregnant) is that I haven't had a period since May 2009!!!! WOOO!
I went off BCP in August 2009.
DH and I decided to actively start trying in January 2010. We started trying and within a few weeks of the new year found out that DH was going to lose his job, so we put the kibosh on TTC for the time being and switched to using condoms instead of going back on BCP.
We had sex on January 31st (using condoms!) and then life got in the way. I got sick, then DH got sick, then work stress started getting to him so we didn't have sex at all during February.
By March 11th I was still feeling pretty crappy, but my boobs started hurting and I was getting sick in the mornings. Considering we were not trying and hadn't had sex in 6 weeks, it didn't even cross my mind that I could be pregnant.
For shiitz and giggles I took a PG test. Which came back positive. You could have knocked me over with a feather.
12 days late I had my first doctors appointment, which not only determined my due date to be Halloween, but showed two little babies floating around in my ute.
Of course, my first response to that last part was, "You're shiiting me."
To this day DH and I are dumbfounded that I got pregnant the way I did. And, as a result, DH has decided to get snipped after the girls arrive, because we only want two kids and we obviously can't be trusted to use birth control properly.
The last 6 months have been cuh-razy.
Unable to even.

In April of 2009 decided to meet with a obgyn to discuss trying to get pregnant after my losses, he gave me the ok and started. After 6 months nothing, was told it would take longer since I only have 1tube and 1 ovary.
In January I had no period! I was very excited LMP was Dec.10th. Got a BFN I must of taken a few a week, no luck. Called my Dr. told him he said over the counters pregnancy test are very accurate so he decided to put me on progestren to get my period started.
Went on with my life waiting for my period to come. My son came down with the flu, I started getting flu symptoms his pedi said for my DH and I to go get flu medication from urgent care before it hits us hard.
Well there I go of course they ask for my LMP and explain I'm not pregnant and I was on progestren. Dr. said they must take a pg test for precautionary reasons and I said ok. I sat there waiting in the room reading a magazine and stressing about the wedding the next day that I was coming out at as maid of honor. Dr. returns says well "you're pregnant!" What!!! I could not believe it. Turns out I was almost seven weeks! And here I am.
We didn't find out until I was about 16-17 weeks, I was on BCP and had been for years and years and always thought I'd probably need to have fertility treatments after that and some other reproductive issues. I had no symptoms of pregnancy... I actually lost almost 30 lbs during the first 4 months, no morning sickness, none of the tell-tale signs. The only thing I was experiencing were fainting spells- which I saw 3 separate doctors about (even my gyno). And none of them had any explanation except that maybe the weight loss had affected my blood pressure and my body just wasn't regulating it yet. So a week after my gyno visit (where she didn't notice anything different), my best friend convienced me to just take a pregnancy test (because what could it hurt) after i went home from work with abdominal cramping. I took the test and got a "positive" immediately. I was totally overwhelmed but DH was ecstatic! We figured it was just meant to be and are both so excited to welcome LO into the world in just a couple weeks! It turns out that we conceived around the end of December last year, which coincidentally is when my birthday is, our anniversary, Christmas and new years... To which my mom jokingly said "Well someone had a great vacation last year!" LOL
p.s. for anyone secretly hating me for loosing 30lbs while being pregnant- don't worry it was 30 lbs that I needed to loose and I've gained it all back
during the last half of my pregnancy...
