Tristan Jonathan Michael
We're leaning towards this first name of Tristan for our son, but not sure what goes along with it (nicknames or how people will make fun of it). So go ahead and please make fun of it so I know how bad or good this name will be!
Thanks much!
ps: We have to keep the Jonathan as the middle name since it's a tradition in DH's family to use hubby's first name as middle name. Ugh!
Re: Help make fun of this name..
I'll admit, I don't like the name Tristan either. It sounds kind of feminine (which is fine, if you like that sort of thing for your son) and the spelling makes me think girl name. That's just my opinion. I'd go with a stronger name to go with Jonathan Michael.
Good luck! We haven't even started thinkin of names yet =/
Not that my opinion matters much to YOUR decision, but it DOES rhyme with "Kristen".
A Tristen I knew years ago was just a hellion - which is reason #1 we would steer clear (rational, I know)
We have lots of time - Good luck!
When I first hear Tristan, I think Triscuit crackers and the girls name Kristen, but that's all I've got...
By the way, I think Jonathan is a great name! (that's my DH's name) and we're thinking of naming LO Jonathan and calling him Jack. I love the idea of naming our baby after his father, but that's just me!

I like the name Tristan; it sounds the most modern out of the many classic British heroes that you could have picked (Beowulf anyone?).
You rarely use/hear people's middle names, so if you like the way the first and last name sound, I say go for it! Family names are so much more special than not, and I'm sure that your little boy will love that he shares his name with his father!
My first year teaching was with Emotionally and Behaviorally Disturbed elementary students, and the one kid that still gives me nightmares was named Tristan. Oh, how I don't miss him.
It's funny how being a teacher ruins so many names! I have a list of about 10 names I would never use because of past students.
But really, I don't see anything wrong with the name Tristan. Would it bother you, though if people called him TJ? If not, than I think it's a good name.
My husband's family does the same thing. Luckily I love M middle names so Michael is fine with me.
And I happen to like Tristan too, I love more old fashioned names.
I knew a Tristan when I was volunteering a gf's gr.3 class, he's in gr.8 now (I've had him in my own class a few times as a substitute teacher), and he's still a great kid, always says "hi" when he sees me around town!
) A bit of a monkey, but great kid!
We were considering this for ours if we have a boy and couldn't really come up with anything too terrible! Like someone else said, if kids are going to make fun, they'll find a way! ;o) The worst we could think of was "Dristan"...like the cold stuff...and how many kids know what the hell dristan is anyways!? haha...I still like this name!
Thats what I was thinking! its on our boys list.
