teething w/o symptoms?

Can some babies go through teething w/o any symptoms?  DS is not showing any symptoms other than LOTS of drooling however it looks like a tooth is about to break through...the gum is white.  Oh, he's also broken out in a rash on his face.

Re: teething w/o symptoms?

  • A girl I work with, her baby didn't have any symptoms.  She never got cranky or anything.  Just woke up one morning and mom noticed teeth.  I can only hope Kaitlyn will do that!

  • Sounds like teething to me.  Some kids are just more tolerant of the discomfort than others, I guess (lucky you!).  The rash is probably from all the drool.  I've read that using lanolin based ointment can help and also gently wiping it with warm water and patting the area dry several times a day.

  • My mom said I did that..One day she just stuck her finger in my mouth (No idea why!) and there was a tooth!

DD is drooling a ton but she is also chewing on her hands a lot so I assume thats a sign but nothing yet..though I think I can feel a little bit..So possibly soon!

  • DS #1 was the EASIEST teether.  He popped his first two without any warnng.  I literally looked in his mouth and was like "Hey!  You have teeth".  He got 4 on the bottom at one time with barely a fuss and he was only slightly cranky when he got 3 year one-year molars at the same time (and for most kids, that means days of pure misery).

Don't be jealous, though...it's the only thing he's done easily.  He was a really fussy infant so I think even if he was a little fussy from the teething, I didn't notice because it was just like any other day for him.
