Kaliah for a girl???

What do you think of the name Kaliah? I came across this name just before we conceived and I really like it but I have never met anyone in real life with this name. I love that it is different and not very common. But I want to get some outside opinion on it.

Hi sparkelz!! I'm not a fan of K names in general, but this strikes me as similar to the drink, kahlua. Personal preferences aside, my issue with it is that while it sounds pretty, I think that it's a modern, invented spelling of a Hawaiian name...maybe this would work for you?

I don't love it, but I don't hate it either. I agree that it reminds of Kahlua and that it also seems inherently Hawaiian. There's nothing awful about it, but it's just not my style.

It is a Hawaiian name, the traditional spelling appears to be Kalea or Kalia, and however Kaliah comes up as an alternate spelling. This is one of the things that make me hesitant to use the name, we are not Hawaiian however we love the Hawaiian culture. This LO is a ?souvenir? from our recent trip to Kauai. I am not sure if it would be strange to use a Hawaiian name even though we are not Hawaiian. I wonder if it would make a better middle name.

I knew a very cute little girl named Kalilah (not sure on spelling), neither of her parents were Hawaiian either but it seemed to suit her.

I don't find it odd to use a Hawaiian name at all. It's actually a hot trend with the President's daughter having a Hawaiian name. I would just check the spelling. I'm sure if you saw it while you were visiting, it could very well be an in-house variation, basically like someone using the name Aidan here, but using an Ayden spelling. Doesn't make it right despite the origins.

I have a neighbor named Kalia.  She is very cute!  It took me a coulpe times to remember her name though.

 It is pronounced mile Malia but with a K instead of M.

A co-worker of mine just had a girl and named her Khaliah.  I think it's pretty.
