Peg Perego vs Chicco Key Fit vs Britax infant seat

Which one is the best?? i keep hearing different things. I bought the Britax B-Ready stroller and it comes with the adapter for the Britax...if I go with Peg Perego or Chicco, I need to buy another adaptor for $50, which is ok, but still. I'm asking b/c I have an RX 300 and I've heard that the Britax is huge and overhangs the seat. I've used the Chicco Key Fit with my daughter and loved it...it's pink, and this baby is a boy, which is why I can't reuse it, plus I just gave it to my SIL who's having a girl next month.

For us it came down to the Peg and the Chicco. When we tested them out the Chicco won hands down. It was so much easier to get in and out of the base and lighter than the Peg by a considerable amount. I just couldn't get the Peg to snap in and out of the base easily plus it was so heavy! Didn't help I also dropped it on my foot.

I went with the Peg Perego.  I have an Acura MDX, which is similar in size to your lexus. Baby is not here, but I tested it out, and the Peg fits fine in the back seat.  My choice was between the Chicco and the Peg, and the woman in buy buy baby told me that the head protection and fabrics of the Peg were superior, but that the Chicco is generally a bit lighter and has greater "ease of use."

(Side note, I saw your reply to one of the echogenic foci posts about your DD, and I keep thinking about you and your beautiful, healthy girl every time I start to worry about my boy's own echogenic focus.  It's one of the only things keeping me sane at this point.)

I have the Britax, and love it , though I havn't used it with baby yet. When I carried it around the store I didn't notice much if any difference in weight than the Chicco Key Fit 30, and the fabric was much softer. It is bigger than most seats, but my DH and I don't mind, I would go to BRU or somewhere and walk around with it ( and remember the baby will add weight ). Also, it fits fine in our Ford Escape and Chevy Cavalier, but you will want to try it ( or any seat you buy ) in your car first, as not all seats are compatable with all cars. The Britax will overhang your seat no matter what, but as long as 80% of the base is on the seat, than it is fine. It was extremely easy to install and very simple to take on and off the base. HTH

KLResq - Thanks And don't worry about the echogenic focus. Not only did I see a peri for a level II ultrasound, but I had my dad (a cardiologist) check out the scans, as well as the pediatric cardiologists at my work (I work at a children's hospital, but in dermatology)...they all said it was fine. Interstingly, there's no actual physiologic "thing" there. They said if they were to cut open the heart, they wouldn't see anything unusual...it's just a shadow that appears on u/s. By my next u/s at 32 weeks it was gone. Try not to worry!!

Go to chiccousa.com and find their customer service number. You can order a new cover/canopy/infant insert for about $50 total and resuse your seat. That would be much cheaper than buying any of the other seats and then you could still buy the adapter and come out over $100 ahead. The Chicco is my favorite infant by far. It's lighter than the Peg (not sure about the Britax) and it's easier to install than either of the other two. Plus it doesn't have the annoying puzzle buckle like the Peg does.

That's a good idea, thanks, but I mentioned I already gave it to my SIL (along with the Cortina stroller) who's having a girl next month!
