After lurking on this board for a while; there seems to be a 50/50 split on Brody people either love it or hate it.
This is our top boy name for when we do get PG and has been for some time. Do you love it or hate it, why?

Best Wishes to my labor buddy FunNSunAZ!

I don't like it - I think of the Brodie from Mall Rats and his chocolate covered pretzels.
It also makes me think of the word, grody like a PP said. I'll put it this way, I prefer Aidan over Brody, but Brody over Nevaeh.

Ditto this!
Ditto.
Honestly, I think it might be one of my least favorite boy names (along with Brock). To me, the sound of it is ugly. And I picture a dumb, meathead jock. And it rhymes with grody.
I don't know why I have such a negative reaction to it, but there it is!
I don't like it.
It was my high school BFF's boyfriend's name. His mom was from the Philippines & she didn't want him. I can't find anything to substantiate this, but she said that Brody (or something really close to the name) means "retarded" in Filipino & since she didn't want him she decided to give him a "bad name". Then she laughed & said atleast he didn't turn out like she wanted him to (she told us on more than one occassion that she prayed for him to die in his sleep when he was a baby). That's my only personal association with the name & this woman's venom against her son makes me hate it.

I think this is one of the worst stories I have ever heard; I can't believe there are people like this in the world. Do you know him now? Do they have a relationship?

Thank you for sharing, I'm sure your son is darling! Do you have any names yet? I would love to hear sibling names for Brody.

I haven't seen him in about 10-yrs. The first time I met her (the mom) was when she told us the story. She comes in, sees all of us (Brody, his brother Sam, me & my BFF) watching tv. She introduces herself, finds out BFF is dating Brody & asks if he told us how he got his name. Then she told the story. It was like she was proud of herself for doing that! He just shook his head, but smiled & gave his mom a hug. I'm guessing they still have a good relationship, he didn't seem to care about the name thing. I can't imagine telling my child's friends a story like that though.

I knew it!
I have always said that people who give their children awful names hate their children. I know it's not true in every case, as some people are just plain ignorant.
But at least now I know it's true for some (although, it's not really something I'm happy to be right about).
