I old high school friend posted one of his friends just had a baby boy at 24 weeks and was asking for prayers, An asshat I went to H.S with, but did not know well posted, "He'll be fine! Babies born early now a days isn't as bad as it was in the 80! But I'll still pray." It took all I could not to say something back to him. Instead I just wrote, "?24 weeks, is VERY early. Scary! I will say a prayer for them.
Asshat responded back- True it is but now a days a baby can survive a lot easier then in the 80s.
It's taking a lot of willpower not to start an arguement with him on this mutual friends post but it finally got the best of me and I said back, "Maybe so, but coming from a preemie Mom, it is not an easy road. Expecially for one born just this side of viability."
I hate to do this on a request for prayers, but I just couldn't let him make light of a very scary and fragile situitation. Jerk.
Re: People are idiots. (FB vent)
People are so dumb sometimes. It is usually the people who haven't even been around babies, let alone preemies and micropreemies. They are all experts, apparentley.
I had a man say to me that it is completely normal and okay for twins to be born two months early. You should have seen my face.
Good luck to your friend and her baby. Hoping for an uneventful NICU stay.
