Nanny Poppinz?

Has anyone used this service? Or know anything them? Prices, experiences, etc.

We're looking for either a part time nanny, or an in home day care provider in loudoun county. Just trying to figure out what prices are out there so we can properly budget for them.

Any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Nanny Poppinz?

  • We used Nanny Poppinz in our nanny search, but did not end up hiring any of the candidates they sent us.  Because we didn't hire one of the people they sent, there was no fee but I can't remember exactly how much it would have been if we were to have hired someone.  The candidates they sent us were fine, but we didn't click with any of them.  They scheduled all the interviews for us without letting us pre-screen candidates, which was a little disconcerting to us.

Searching on DC Urban Moms, I saw posts re fees for nanny agencies in general ranging from 10-15% of annual salary.

We also used Sittercity.com (cheap) -- our second choice was someone on that site.  The nanny we ended up hiring we found on DC Urban Moms (free).  Other folks have also had success with Craigslist.

  • I suggest when looking for in home care that you advertise in the different universities student papers in the area - and there are several! During college and my masters degree I provided child care (for only 1 family at a time) for about 30 hours a week.  It was the perfect job while in school b/c it allowed me study time when the kids took naps and the parents were always home by the time I had to head to class.  I always used the student papers to look for searching families.
