Hey everyone! H and I are just about to start TTC. I am currently on Pristiq for depression, and have been taking it for a little less than a year. I know that ideally, I would wean myself off and stop taking it. I'm pretty nervous to do that, though, as it has really really helped with my depression.
Does anyone else have experience with getting off Pristiq while TTC? Or with staying on your AD's while TTC/PG? I plan on trying to talk to a Psych about this, but mine is terrible and everyone else seems to have a waiting list. TIA
Re: Pristiq + TTC
From Drugs.com:
FDA pregnancy category C. Pristiq may cause problems in a newborn baby if the mother takes the medication late in pregnancy (during the third trimester). Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant during treatment. Desvenlafaxine can pass into breast milk and may harm a nursing baby. Do not use this medication without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

I was on Effexor & Lamictal for my depression (actually I'm bipolar). I stopped taking both as soon as we started TTC at the advice of my OBGYN, Psych & GP. The reason we put off TTC as long as we did is because I was afraid of being off my meds. It's been 16-months now since I stopped & everything is fine. My brother said he thinks I'm better now than I've been in years. I cry a couple of times a week, but for the most part I'm fine.
FWIW, I have migraines & am seeing a specialist. Pristiq is one of the drugs being used off label to treat migraines. My doctor said he felt I would be a good candidate for this drug, but since we're TTC he wouldn't even consider prescribing it.
