Guess who is allergic to spaghetti squash?

I very lovingly cooked Caroline some spaghetti squash yesterday...and because I taste everything I give her...I tested it before I stuck it in the freezer.

Yeah...I am allergic...not Caroline.  Hives, itching...the whole nine yards. 

One massive steroid shot and two Benadryl later, the itching has almost stopped, but I'm beginning to think the rash is here to stay. 

You'd think in 30 years, I would figure out that I was allergic to spaghetti squash...but I guess yesterday was the first time I have ever had it.  It is so strange, because I eat all kinds of squash (summer and winter) all the time. 

Thankfully, what little bit I tasted I didn't care for, so I won't be missing much

Well, allergies can develop and disappear at any point in your life, so maybe you just developed the allergy. Either way, I agree, you aren't missing much.

How totally random!

I happen to adore spaghetti squash!  My father makes a casserole of it with ground turkey and it's just the best thing in the world. 

Glad you found some relief, though.  Good thing you had the Benadryl on hand!

I love spaghetti squash, but it has to be prepped how I like it...lol.

That's pretty crazy!  Glad you're ok now, hope the rash goes away soon.  Has Caro had any yet?  Do you have any other allergies?

Yuk!  That would really suck.

On aside note (that I'm sure you are already aware of, but just incase) our pedi had us put off introducing foods that dh or I was allergic to until DD was 2yrs old.  You might want to ask your pedi about that.

That's exactly how I figured out I was allergic to mango. Unfortunately mango is really yummy.
