Rory for a girl?

What are your thoughts?  I really like it (got stuck on it after Gilmore Girls, I can admit it).  We're thinking Rory Elizabeth (after my aunt) or Rory Rose (after my grandmother).

Re: Rory for a girl?

  • Just Rory.  I don't really like any of the names that Rory could be a nn for.

  • Are you sure you don't like any of the longer/given names for it? Did you realize that Lorelai was one? Not sure how that works, but I've seen it more than once. Just thought you'd like to know, seeing as how you also enjoy "Gilmore Girls".
  • Love it! My cousin named one of her twin girls Rori.

Rory as a nn? Short for Aurora? I do like in this instance. Just Rory though is NMS.

This is what I was thinking.

  • It's ok. It sounds much better with Elizabeth than Rose.

  • i like it paired with a feminine middle name

i would prefer elizabeth over rose

  • Rory Elizabeth sounds pretty good.  I liked how one poster spelled it Rori.  Kind of like Tori, and gives it a more feminine look.

  • My name is Rory and I love it!  Of course, I have been around much longer than the gilmore girl...haha!

My full name is Rory Nicole, but I have always loved Rory Elizabeth as well.  It is actually the name of Robert Kennedy's daugther.

  • I prefer it for a boy.  but for a girl, I would spell it Rory. IMO, the "i" does not make it any more feminine.
  • I like it for a boy, not a girl.

The only Rory I know is a guy but I think that it's way more feminie sounding. I like Rory Elizabeth the best.
  • I like it for a boy better - seeing as though I named my son it :)
Sawyer Quinn (09/06/06), Rory Keaton (04/07/08) and Kinsley Saffron (10/12/10). Forever and ever my babies they'll be. A rose can say "I love you",orchids can enthrall, but a weed bouquet in a chubby fist, yes, that says it all.~Author Unknown

  • I dont know the correct spelling but... I would also def use rory as a nn not a first name.

But I dont like aurora AT ALL... my ex bf lol use to tell me about a porn star with that name

I really like LORLEIGH (SP) ... Pronounced like in the show gimore girls

    lor-lie  then NN her rory.

  • Love Rory for a girl!

    Dislike the Rori spelling.

  • Some thoughts...

    Rory is a boys name

I like Gilmore Girls (my guy and I actually watched it on our honeymoon Embarrassed), but I can't stand this fad.

Rory as a nick name for Lorelai, Aurora, Victoria, Eleanor or any other OR name would work

    Rori is cre8ive

  • Eh.

DH was going to be Rory. Gilmore Girls or not, I think it's a boyish name. Like Ryan. Or Peyton.
