Please Help NT Scan?

Hey Mommies and Mommies to be-  I was curious what an NT Scan is and what exactly they do.  I had never heard of one before.  I would greatly appreciate any insight you have to offer.  Thanks!

    Google is great. But for a basic response: 

    This prenatal test (also called the NT or nuchal fold scan) can help your healthcare practitioner assess your baby's risk of having Down syndrome (DS) and some other chromosomal abnormalities as well as major congenital heart problems.

    The NT test uses ultrasound to measure the clear (translucent) space in the tissue at the back of your developing baby's neck.

    I haven't had one yet, but I do plan on it.  Knowledge is power.  I would want to know any issues so I can make sure that I get the best care needed and that my baby will as well.

    I did not have one with my DS but did with this LO and I have to say I felt much better after it. PLUS you get to see LO for like 15-20 min

    I haven't had one yet, but it'll be my first ultrasound so I'm not going to turn it down for a chance to see the little one!

    I had one with this pregnancy and it was very reassuring even though the testing is not 100% accurate.  However, it does provide you with some additional information regarding your pregnancy including the current location of your placenta.  It was also fun just seeing our babe move around in more detail.

    Having mine on Friday! I have heard that some women prefer not to have the NT and blood screening because of the risk of false positives. I want to have as much "data" as possible, though!
