Baby Names

Thoughts on 3 names...(1st, 2 middles?)

Just wondering if many people did this.

With our second, I really liked the name Bennett Hendrix Rudolph P.  But, DH was against 2 middle names.  Said it was stupid...yes, those were his exact words.

Was wondering what others thought about having 2 middle names.

FWIW - the middle names I had were family names.

Sawyer Quinn (09/06/06), Rory Keaton (04/07/08) and Kinsley Saffron (10/12/10). Forever and ever my babies they'll be. A rose can say "I love you",orchids can enthrall, but a weed bouquet in a chubby fist, yes, that says it all.~Author Unknown

  • We used two middle names. My husband has 2 as well, so there was sort of a family precedent, and they were both meaningful names to us.

  • I think 3 names is overkill (MN's are hardly used as it is, much less 2 of them), and those 3 names in particular are REALLY a mouthful.

Why does one name have to honor "everyone"?

  • I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't think it's weird or "stupid" at all.

  • Both my husband and I have two middle names.  We've both liked having two.

  • I like 1 MN for babies because our kids might elect up-and-coming naming traditions when they get married and then get a second MN or second LN as part of that. Personally, I moved my maiden LN to be a 2nd middle name when I got married. Another friend just married a guy who has two last names (one from his mom and one from his dad) and she will add the groom's dad's part of the LN to her name, but any kids would get a combo.  My Columbian friend has an even more complex naming system.
  • My DH has two middle names and he doesn't like it.

I like Bennet Hendrix, but the Rudolph plus last name is a REALLY long name. I think if you are going to use 2 middle names they should be a little on the shorter side.  But that is just my opinion.

  • I think having 2 mn is fine. Especially if they are family names. I say go for it!
  • It's NMS, but I know a lot of ppl in Canada do it- including DH's cousin and her husband. I think it's more popular up there...

  • I love love love 2 middle names but DH isn't on board :(    But then again I just love names in general :)
  • We will be using 2 middle names for this baby (and all future children). The first is one we just like and the second is a family name.
