Success after IF

Owwww, engorgement.

Evidently my boobs are overachievers now. I was worried the other day, but her cluster feeding did the trick evidently... and I woke up completely and utterly engorged. Seriously, it was like I had lead balloons instead of breasts when I rolled over to get up.

Unfortunately she in no way, shape or form begins to empty me out, either. I woke up from a nap engorged all over again  and in lots of pain... then I bent over to put her in the bouncer while in a loose-fitting top and had such searing pain from the sudden movement I spiked a fever and started shaking. I had to send DH out for a pump. Yikes.

I took three ounces out and I could easily get a lot more.... I'm afraid to take more though, since I don't want to encourage them! I was feeling like I was going to get a clogged duct everything was so tight.

Re: Owwww, engorgement.

  • Ouch, I'm sorry:(

I always had to pump in the first month because Ella never emptied me out.  It helped relieve the pressure and also helped with a stash in my freezer:)

  • I think this first pump is going to be a pump and dump since I didn't even bother to wash the thing first.. I just put it together and used it. But a freezer stash will definitely be a good thing since I really hope to get back to work soon, assuming I find a freakin' job.

And even without emptying me out, she's gained back most of her weight already.

  • I feel your pain. Think that's where my d*mn boobie stretch marks came from--the first engorgement. Are you looking to establish a freezer stash? If so, you could pump more and freeze. Otherwise, you're doing the right thing by just pumping enough for relief. Hang in there!
