KY Babysitting Laws?

Does anyone know the max. limit of children you can babysit in your own home without a license? I was interested in babysitting 1 day week as a Parent's Day Out program from my home, but wanted to know the limit first. It will probably be only close friend's kids that I will watch.

Thanks!!

Re: KY Babysitting Laws?

  • I'm not positive, but think it's around 3-4.  A friend of mine actually lost her babysitter when her son was an infant for this very reason.  Someone turned her in for watching too many children without a license and he was the last one on board, so she had to stop watching him.  Maybe this link will help:  https://chfs.ky.gov/os/oig/drcc.htm

  • It's 1 adult per 6 kids, though I think it also may depend on the age of the children. If they're baby-babies it's fewer, but if they're older, especially if they're potty trained, I think the limit goes up.
