Need Positive Feedback 7/17 UPDATE 7/18

God morning ladies. Hubby and I just returned from our first ultrasound and I'm hoping for some reassurance and positive feedback. My last period was 5/27/17. Based on that I should be 7w2d. We were expecting to hear a heartbeat today. When the doctor did the ultrasound she questioned my last period and cycle length, because I'm only measuring at 5w6d. She said it quite possible I ovulated late, but I wasn't tracking ovulation, so I can't confirm. There is a definite visible pregnancy with a yolk sac, which is what she she measured to calculate the 5w6d.
TW- I had a loss in January somewhere between 5-6 weeks that resulted in a D&C. During the last pregnancy they only ran betas a few times to confirm loss. At 5 weeks betas were up to went from approx. 1400 to 1500 over 48 hours then started decreasing. This pregnancy they started monitoring earlier due to the previous loss. Approx betas were as follows:
6/26 - 486
6/28 - 998
7/3 - 4000
Doctor stopped testing because she was satisfied with the increasing numbers. I had blood taken today and then have to go again Wednesday. I'm hoping for still increasing numbers...I have another u/s (viability scan) scheduled for next Monday. The doctor said she's hoping we'll have a heartbeat then, and that I just ovulated late.

With my loss is January I had cramping and some light bleeding along with loss of symptoms (sore boobs, extreme fatigue...). This pregnancy I am not experiencing cramps or bleeding, and still have my symptoms.

Although I'm hoping for positive experiences and feedback, I am also realistic in the fact that this might end in mc. Please share.

How were your periods after your loss? Did they go back to normal fairly quickly? Mine were super wonky after my losses. I'm hopeful that you really did just ovulate late and Monday will be a totally different story with a strong heartbeat. ❤

I posted in the ultrasound thread about my experience. With my second son I went in, knowing my dates exactly, and he was measuring behind. At 5w5d all they could see was a sack. No fetal pole or anything else. They prepared me for a blighted ovum. The whole week I prepared myself for another loss. When I went back a week later to confirm the BO there he was with an appropriate hb and measuring to my dates. He was never behind again in measurements. Consequently, my third son measured behind too and I was put on alert. A week later he was measuring ahead and stayed that way. I just figure my boys are a little slower at first to develop. I spoke to my perinatologist about this and he said that this is the precise reason he doesn't do ultrasounds before eight weeks. He said that before eight weeks the time to worry is if you have seen a hb and then there isn't one at a follow up. In the early weeks they all develop differently. My OB was trying to do a sono this week (turn six weeks tomorrow), but I am not going in until Monday bc of my history. Good luck and stay positive.

I'm sending positive vibes, @raeliz13. I've had a MC in May I was 5w6d but numbers somewhere in the second week. Reading different folks stories it can go either way. I find the difficult part is trying not to worry (like people advise). Looking forward to a good update.

It sounds like there is a good chance you ovulated late. Hoping you get great news at your next ultrasound. I would try to stay cautiously optimistic since you aren't cramping or bleeding and you still have your symptoms.

@mylovelittlelove - the first 2 cycles seemed to be normal...in looking back now, April and May were a little off. The doctor asked how my cycles were, and I responded "normal". I hadn't really though about it, because generally I'm right on track.

@DDRRT1982 - Thank you for sharing your experiences. That definitely helps put my mind to ease!

My miscarriage was 2 June and I was between 5-6 weeks. I knew I was miscarrying though. The doctor was giving me reasons to hope, but I knew it was happening. I had bleeding but no cramps or other indications of a miscarriage. I just knew. I am praying that everything is fine. It sounds very possible that you ovulated late and you have good HCG numbers.

Hi, it sounds to me like you ovulated later. My last period was on May 26 and I am only 6w, 2D. I ovulated on CD 23.

Your HCG numbers are rising and this doesn't at all seem like your miscarriage pregnancy so that's all good!

I understand the nerves. I've had two miscarriages and an ectopic trying for baby number three.

@raeliz13 As hard as it is, the best you can do is to keep your time occupied for the next little while. Movies, time with friends, projects around the house, etc. There is a good chance you ovulated late. US showed a pregnancy in your uterus. That's good news. Your HCG has been rising appropriately. That's good news. Focus on those things. Step away from the Google and go find a really compelling summer book that you can't put down. FX for you!

Chiming in with reassurance about the date. My LMP was May 23rd, and while this was one of my shorter cycles, I know I didn't ovulate until after June 10th for sure. I've ovulated on CD34 before, and all was fine (long and irregular here). Having a MC, extra stress, change in schedule/sleep, can all impact that part of your cycle. Positive thoughts!

@kiki75 - Thank you for pointing out the positives to remember and for the suggestions! I learned in January how stressful Google can be when looking for matching symptoms and experiences. I have been trying my best to not Google search experiences and symptoms!!

@LiveNLove44 - Thanks for sharing your experience. Hearing true life experiences of varying/late ovulation has be helpful and reassuring.

@loganjsmommy1978 - Thank you for sharing your experience as well. The wait is the worst, and there's nothing to do in the meantime.

Again, I want to say thank you to all of your for sharing your life experiences and for the positive support, thoughts and prayers. Although we don't know one another, I truly appreciate your responses. My husband, who was with me at the doctor today, was checking with me when he got home to see how I was feeling. I told him that I received a lot of positive feedback, similar experiences, and general support from this board and that it really assisted me today in keeping calm, anxiety and stress free, realistic, and cautiously optimistic.

UPDATE - got hcg and progesterone levels back from yesterday. The hcg went up, but only to 10000. Doctor said we should be seeing more of an increase, and progesterone dropped from approx 15 to 7. She is going to start me on a vaginal progesterone cream today, and says we'll see what next week's u/s brings, but it is possible this ends in a miscarriage.
