Hello. Did you experience any pain during or after your HSG test? Did you return to work afterward? I was told that I may need someone to drive me home. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
During, heck yes. After, no. I went on my lunch break and had no issues with working the rest of the day.

Everyone has a different story. Mine was horrible and I didn't expect it to be because people told me it would be fine.
Because of a tilited uterus and some scarring I have on my cervix from a LEEP it took him 20 minutes just to get through my cervix and into the uterus. It was horrible. There were no stirrups so I had to hold my ankles together and legs open the whole time while he dug around and his student looked on. (I almost asked her to hold my legs at one point because they were shaking)
When he finally did get through I was relieved but that was short lived. The cramping from pumping the dye through is pretty uncomfortable but thankfully it doesn't last long. (the whole procedure should only last about 5 minutes but because it took so long for him to get through my cervix it felt like forever)
I was in enough pain afterwards (I don't think I would have returned to work had I planned on it) and that evening, felt a lot like strong AF cramps. I wonder if a lot of that pain was due to the manipulating that he did though.
Good luck! I hope you have an uneventful HSG and everything is clear.
I have not had an HSG, but my SHGs did hurt (during and after). You'll probably be physically able to drive but I suggest having someone with you in case you get upsetting news. Good luck
I had heard mixed reviews so i decided to be safe and have MH come with me. I took a total of 6 advil before hand 3 about an hour before and 3 more about 30 min before. I can't say it actually helped but then again i cant imagine what it would've felt like without the advil! It was uncomfortable to say the least. It did not take long at all. Putting the balloon in was uncomfortable and i thought that was it, until he put the dye through. Ugh that was interesting. But it is quick and the pain goes away. Afterwards i felt bloated and had a little cramping. They told me to wear a pad in case of any bleeding or spotting. They used some sort of dye that was very very sticky and i think that was the worst part lol. I went home after and took some more advil that night but a few hours later i had already forgotten about the whole procedure. I have heard of people who experience more pain because there is a blockage or something else wrong. GL to you and i hope you are all clear!

Yes, a lot of cramping during, but it only lasted like 2 min. Afterwards I was fine, and drove myself home. I didn't go back to work, since it was a Friday and I was going out of town, but I def could have gone back to work. I had some slight spotting that day, but nothing more.

During yes, after no. I drove myself and was completely fine driving home. I could have gone back to work. Good luck

Thanks for the feedback and the luck. Sorry to hear that some of your experiences were not as uneventful/pain free as others, but I appreciate the insight.
Very painful cramping during and then for an hour afterwards (where I had to stay laying down at the clinic). Luckily DH was with me. After about 1.5 hours - they ease to menstral cramps but for 2 days afterwards I felt like I had been punched.
Most people have much better experiences though. If you can, i'd bring someone with you. Good luck!
But, after it was over, I was fine. I took 800 mg of motrin. I can't imagine what it would be like to not take anything. Although, I definitely think its worth it for the peace of mind.
Everyone is different but I didn't really have any pain at all. Both of my tubes were blocked so my RE used an extra bottle of dye to clear them and even that didn't hurt. I did have some mild cramping afterwards and throughout the rest of the day but it was nothing worse than AF cramps.
MH had an important meeting at work so I went by myself and it was fine.

It definitely hurt a lot, but only for less than 5 minutes. I drove myself and could have gone back to work afterwards. A tiny bit crampy that night but it wasn't bad at all.
Not going to lie, it hurt during especially when inflating the balloon in my cervix. Afterward some mild cramping but was good the next day, spotted for a few days after.
